Liberty Hill Beer Festival

Mark your calendars for November 2nd, 2024, from 12 to 6 PM, when the 7th annual Liberty Hill Beer Festival returns! This year’s event promises a fantastic lineup of local breweries, wineries, craft vendors, live music, and food trucks. Whether you’re a beer enthusiast or simply looking for a fun day out, this festival has something for everyone. Here’s what to expect.

The Heart of the Festival: San Gabriel River Brewery

At the center of the festival is the beloved San Gabriel River Brewery, a local staple since its opening in 2016. The brewery is located at 500 Chaparral Dr, Liberty Hill, TX, nestled alongside the North Branch of the San Gabriel River.

The story of San Gabriel River Brewery began in a garage. Brothers Patrick and John—once a custom home builder from New York, the other, once an IBM employee and seasoned home brewer—turned their hobby into something much bigger. They didn’t plan to go commercial, but their vision changed after the Texas Craft Brewers Festival in 2014. With John’s nine-acre property providing the perfect space, they began refining recipes and building their brewery.

What started with a small 25-gallon brew system soon grew into a more extensive operation. San Gabriel River Brewery works with a 3.5 BBL system today, boasting multiple fermenters and brite tanks. They now offer 11 beer styles on tap, distributed across 18 HEB stores, local bars, and other retailers. Despite their growth, you can still find the brothers pouring beers and mingling with guests at the brewery.

Festival Attractions and Taproom Expansion

While the beer is a significant draw, the Liberty Hill Beer Festival also features a variety of craft vendors, food trucks, and live music. The festival is a vibrant community gathering that brings people together to celebrate local talent and flavors.

San Gabriel River Brewery’s taproom will also be open, offering its cozy indoor seating, large outdoor patio, and welcoming atmosphere. Right now, the brewery is undergoing an exciting expansion. The taproom will soon grow by 800 square feet, adding about 60 new seats and creating space for indoor events, private parties, and more. Though temporarily closed on Wednesdays to accommodate construction, the brewery will soon return to total hours, with its kitchen serving a limited menu of pizza, wings, and pretzels.

How to Join the Fun

The festival is free to attend, but ticket options are available to enhance your experience. For $20, general admission guarantees a parking spot on the festival grounds, a great deal given how quickly parking fills up each year. For those looking for an extra memorable experience, the VIP package costs $75 and offers free tastings, access to a VIP room, and the use of indoor restrooms.

Tickets can be purchased through the San Gabriel River Brewery website, and vendors interested in participating can also register there.
